
Lopes East
Dusk scene of the east side of Provincetown’s Lopes Square. Manuel N. Lopes was born on Christmas Day, 1892 in Olhao, Portugal. In Provincetown, he was a fish dealer. Mr. Lopes was inducted into the Army in September 1917 and was killed in action in France on July 18, 1918. Provincetown honored its fallen WW I hero by naming the square after him in 1938.
